Education & Training
With over 20 years of experience in organized labor, community organizing, advocacy, and government relations, Jessica is known for her collaborative approach. Prior to joining Make the Road, Jessica Espinoza developed her professional experience with a concentration on addressing workplace issues and concerns in unionized settings.
Her journey in organized labor began as a rank-and-file member while earning her BA degree with a dual major in International Studies and Political Science from Portland State University. She then held multiple roles including internal organizer and progressed to regional coordinator, consulting, and ultimately program manager positions specializing in labor management initiatives with Taft-Hartley training funds & DOL apprenticeship programs. In addition to working with a number of SEIU locals, national labor management spaces & training funds, Jessica has worked with CWA & UMASS Lowell’s CPH-NEW as a site coach. She’s previously served as an Associate Director for the DePaul Labor Education Center and continues supporting as an adjunct instructor. A strategic thinker, Jessica has played a pivotal advisory role in shaping organizational direction, providing valuable insights that inform long-term planning and policy development.
She has a unique talent for bridging gaps between different groups, facilitating communication, and ensuring alignment around common objectives. Jessica is first generation Honduran-American and lives in Illinois with her husband and their three children.
